Card Types

Full Privileges

For a FULL PRIVILEGES library card, applicants must provide a valid 

  • Oregon State-issued Driver License, ID card, or 
  • Baker County Concealed Weapon Permit.

Limited Privileges

Cards with LIMITED PRIVILEGES may be issued to applicants with other acceptable photo ID types such as 

  • Oregon Dept of Corrections ID,
  • non-Oregon DL or ID, 
  • Passport, Military ID , 
  • Tribal ID Card, or 
  • documentation from the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS).  

The checkout limit may be waived if the applicant is able to provide any one of the following:

  • proof of Baker County property ownership 
  • proof of current Baker County employment plus residency documents 
  • proof of a long-term lease agreement (6 mo. minimum).  

Library staff will request Photo ID or proof of residency every 3-12 months for these accounts.

Applicants with non-Oregon DMV photo identification will be provided an account with 6-item checkout limit. The limit may be waived with proof of current Baker County employment plus residency documents, proof of Baker County property ownership, or proof of a long-term lease agreement (6 mo. minimum).  Library staff will request photo ID or proof of residency at least every 12 months for these accounts.  

Non-resident

Non-resident cards are available for a fee for periods up to one year for individuals who reside outside of Baker County and do not own property in Baker County or any other Sage Member Library area.

Not-resident cards are also an option for out-of-county residents under the jurisdiction of a partner Sage library but wishing to have the added value of a BCLD card. i.e. access to more online materials through special databases subscribed to by BCLD, such as downloadable audiobooks, eBooks, and videos through Library2Go, access to genealogy records through the Heritage Quest database, auto repair manuals, maps and more. Four non-resident card types are available for various lengths of stay. Card fees are set to approximate the average amount paid into the library district by a Baker County household and are non-refundable.

$20.00 -- valid for 1 month, limited 2 item maximum checkout, includes access to subscription databases.  
$40.00 -- valid for 3 months, limited 6 item maximum checkout, includes access to subscription databases. 
$60.00 -- valid for 6 months, limited 12 item maximum checkout, includes access to subscription databases.   Fee allows ONE additional account for dependent at same household. 
$90.00 -- valid for 12 months, regular borrowing privileges, includes access to subscription databases. Fee allows TWO additional accounts for dependents at same household.

Specialized Accounts

Educator 

Teachers contracted with Baker County schools and registered home school instructors may apply for an Educator card. These card types allow:

  • expanded hold and borrowing capacity
  • exemption from late fees (billings begin when an item is 30+ days overdue)

To qualify for this card type, applicants must provide proof of current employment with an ESD or registration of a child being home schooled in Baker County. Educator cards are good for up to one year; accounts can be renewed with re-submission of employment or home school registration documentation.

Institutional Borrower

In cooperation with local government or educational organizations, BCLD may issue an Institutional Borrower card for use by authorized agents of the company. These accounts are good for up to one year, renewable annually upon authorization by the agency authority.
